A Message to the people of Bethany UM Church in Latrobe: As our nation and other nations respond to the recent news that the Covid-19 virus continues to spread at an alarming rate, I would like to share a few thoughts with you. Please pray for our world, and specifically for those who have been infected with this virus, as well as for the many who are impacted, directly or non-directly. Please check on those who are sick. are at extra risk, or those who may be lonely or isolated at this time. Please consider carefully weather a visit is appropriate or would it be better for a call or to send a card.

Abundant Health Team Update on Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Everyday preventative measures can be used to help protect yourself and others:
o Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
o Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
o Avoid touching high-touch surfaces in public places (elevator buttons, door
handles, handrails). Use a tissue or your sleeve to cover your hand or finger if you must touch something and wash your hands after.
o Stay home when you are sick and for 24 hours after you no longer have a
o Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use the inside of your elbow
when you cough or sneeze.
o Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily, including tables,
o Get your flu vaccine to prevent influenza, another prevalent respiratory virus circulating this time of year.
At this time we are still planning to worship together on Saturday 6:30pm, Sundays 8:15 and 10:30 am, Until our Bishop, CDC or other authorities tell us otherwise, or we deem it unsafe to do so. Homemade Fondant Easter Eggs**CANCELED**MONEY WILL BE REFUNDED** Please see the bulletin for order forms or call the office. Specific orders are not being taken, however we will fill your requests on a first come first serve basis. Once a type of Easter Egg is gone you will need to choose another kind. Pick up times to be announced. Help needed: We have a job for everyone. Cracking eggs, Dishwashing, strong armed people to mix fondant, egg shapers, coating the eggs, packaging the eggs, people to make noodles when the eggs are finished. Will train-benefits are many.Help needed on Thursday, April 4th @ 9am, Friday, April 5th @ 9:00am, Saturday, April 6th @ 9:00am
Tech Help Needed Help is needed to run the screens at the Sunday 8:15 and 10:30 services. There will be a class for training on how to run the system. Please contact the office if interested.
Confirmation Class Please contact the office if you have a child who is interested in Confirmation Class.
Come join us on the power of prayer small group study Focused on the movie "War Room". Centered on the power of prayer. Will meet Wednesdays in Bethany House starting February 5th from 5:00-6:00. Bring your children to After School Club and then join us! No book required.
Teaching from Methodist School for Supernatural Ministries. A 10-week class on healing ministry will start on Feb 5th from 6:30-7:30 in Bethany House.
The Art of Marriage Small Group Study Feb 9th - March 15th. Sundays 9:15-10:15am in Room 301. Please join us for this 6 week small group series to learn how to make a masterpiece of your marriage. All stages of marriage welcome, as are individuals!
Lent Study Let's take a journey together this Lent season. We will study the 24 hours on The Last Days of Jesus' Life. It's a 6 week Sunday study beginning March 1st-April 5th from 6:00-7:30 pm at Bethay House. If you are interested there will be a sign up sheet at the front of the church or contact the office.
Youth Sunday School Donations to homeless men and women were taken to the Welcome Home Center in Greensburg. Donations were men: 10 hats, 8 pairs of gloves, 4 new packages of socks and several donated pairs. Women: 2 slippers, 7 scarves, 11 hats, 8 pairs of gloves, 2 new packages of socks and several donated pairs. Thank you to all who donated!
Women's Retreat We are looking for 5 or more women to join us! WonderFull World takes you on a journey packed with friendship ,God, and spiritual growth. It's a retreat you won't want to miss! Location: Laurelville Mennonite Center. Date: April 24-26 Cost: $150/person for double, triple and quad rooms. Single room $270.00. Registration with $50.00 nonrefundable by 2/16/20. Balance due by 4/5/20. Thank you!
Attention all knitters and crocheters Help is needed to make prayer shawls and prayer squares for the "Shawlom Ministry". These are given to those folks needing extra caring thoughts and comfort at critical times in their lives. Please call the church office if you are interested.
First Fellowship Sundays-A time to connect and reflect Located at Bethany House. Available from 8am - 12:30pm light refreshments will be provided. If you are interested in hosting a Sunday, please contact the church office
Food Pantry Volunteers Needed: Operation Fresh Express is coming to Prince of Peace Church on Thursday April 16th. Volunteers are needed to help distribute the food. Arrival time is 3:15pm and should conclude by 5:30pm. Please note that this is an outside ministry, so dress according to the weather. There will be a sign-up sheet on the front pew of the sanctuary. You can also call the office for details.
Food Panty Collection Donations needed for March are: Toothpaste. Place your donations in the marked green containers in the vestibule. Or for monetary donations please place it in a brown envelope and mark it "Food Panty".
Prayer Shawls are Available If you need a prayer shawl or prayer squares, please contact the church office. Crocheters needed! Please help us continue Bethany's Prayer Shawl Ministry! Bethany has given away over 550 prayer shawls in recent years crocheted by members of our church.
Alter Flowers Many weeks we have flowers on the altar to decorate the sanctuary while honoring or remembering a loved one or a special occasion. If you would like to purchase flowers for a weekend, the cost is $30 for a table top arrangement and $50 for the altar flowers. There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the front vestibule, or you can contact the church office. Please let us know by the Tuesday before what you would like placed in the bulletin.
Pictures Needed Picturesare requested from 2019 church events to use in Bethany's annual history scrapbook. Anyone with pictures, especially of the children, who would like to contribute to this project should contact the church office.
Jr. Chruch (K-6th grade) Jr. Chruch will start on Feb 3rd and we are still looking for volunteers who would be willing to help one Sunday or more a month at the 10:30 service on Sundays. Please contact the church office if interested.
Help Wanted: Nursery Help Needed during the Sunday 10:30 service. We are looking for a Youth Director and Volunteers to help with the Youth Ministry. Also needed are Volunteers to help with Jr. Church at the 10:30 service on Sundays. Please contact the office if interested in any of these wonderful opportunities. Crocheters are needed to crochet the sleeping mats for the homeless. Please contact the office if interested.
Cancellations due to weather If the services need to be cancelled due to inclement weather, we have a One Call System that will call everyone on the list and let them know. It will also be listed on WTAE, the church website, and the Facebook page. If you are not on the One Call List and would like to be added, please write your name and number on a blue card and place it in the offering plate or contact the church office.
The Latrobe Center for Active Adults Serves breakfast from 8:00am - 9:00am weekdays for $3.00. Any age is welcome to come for breakfast. The breakfast is made to order. The coffee is $0.10 a cup. Located on Avenue C.
